Red Sands Vacations ("Red Sands", "we", "us") is part of Red Sands Group and is based in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. We rent vacation homes to guests and manage vacation rental properties for owners in Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

This policy explains what personal information we collect through www.visitredsands.ca and our booking site, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Information we collect

Information you give us:

• Contact details, such as your name, email address, phone number and mailing address, when you fill out a contact, inquiry or partnership form, book a call, or create an account.

• Booking details, such as your travel dates, number of guests, pets, special requests and the property you are booking.

• Payment information when you book. Payments are processed by our booking platform and its payment processors. We do not store full credit card numbers on our website.

• Property information if you are an owner, such as your property address, details about the home, and information we need to pay you and report on your rental.

• Anything else you choose to send us, such as messages, reviews or photos.

Information we collect automatically:

• Technical data such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, and how you arrived at our site.

• Cookies and similar technologies that keep the site working, remember your preferences and help us understand how the site is used.

Information from others:

• If you book one of our properties through a third-party platform such as Airbnb or VRBO, that platform shares your reservation and contact details with us so we can host your stay.

How we use your information

• To take and manage reservations, including confirmations, check-in instructions, access codes and guest support during your stay.

• To process payments, deposits, refunds and guest damage coverage, and to handle any damage claims.

• To respond to questions and inquiries, including owner consultations.

• To manage owner properties, including scheduling cleaning, maintenance and repairs, and providing owner statements and payments.

• To keep our properties, guests and staff safe and to prevent fraud.

• To improve our website and services.

• To send you marketing emails, but only with your consent. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.

• To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

Who we share your information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to provide our services:

• Service providers that run our website and bookings, including Wix (website, forms and scheduling) and Lodgify (reservations and payments), along with their payment processors.

• Our team and Red Sands Group companies that service our properties, such as cleaning and maintenance staff, only to the extent needed to prepare for and support your stay.

• Property owners, who may receive limited reservation details about stays at their home, such as dates, number of guests and the amount booked.

• Booking platforms such as Airbnb or VRBO when you book through them.

• Insurers, adjusters or claims providers if there is a damage claim.

• Professional advisors, such as accountants and lawyers.

• Government authorities or others when required by law, or to protect the safety of people or property.

Some of our service providers store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States and the European Union. When this happens, your information may be subject to the laws of those countries. We choose providers that protect personal information with safeguards comparable to Canadian standards.

Our website uses cookies that are needed for the site to work, as well as analytics and performance cookies that help us understand how visitors use the site. You can control cookies through your browser settings or our cookie banner. Blocking some cookies may affect how the site works.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as long as the law requires. For example, we keep booking and financial records for tax and accounting purposes. When we no longer need information, we securely delete it or make it anonymous.

These include secure hosting, encrypted connections and limiting access to people who need it for their work.
